What is iPAQ Choice?

With iPAQ Choice, HP provides a complete range of products that are custom-designed for HP iPAQ PDAs and smartphones. In a manner of speaking, it is an entire world of its own for your iPAQ, where you can find practical and useful software and accessories from HP and other manufacturers and providers, purchase software and accessories directly, and also find useful tips, tricks, and news about every aspect of your iPAQ.

It is extremely important for us to make sure that the selection of software and accessories available on iPAQ Choice is of the highest quality. Because of this, we subject every product to a quality and application test first.

If you are a new iPAQ owner, you probably found us through the brochure that was enclosed with your device. Have you already redeemed your iPAQ points? If you haven't, you should redeem them right away. This way, you will receive a valuable credit from HP towards the purchase of software on iPAQ Choice.

You can find your voucher number on the back of the brochure. This voucher number will allow you to download software with a value of 4 points, free of charge. All you have to do is create a user account and enter the voucher number there in order for your user account to be credited with 4 points. For further help, please review this FAQ.

If you wish to purchase more software through iPAQ Choice, simply purchase one of our pointPAQs. These are available in different sizes, according to your needs, and can be used to credit your user account with more points so that you can download more software.

User Account

To create a new user account:

Go to the Login page and select the "I am a new user, let me register" option. Please fill out the fields that are shown below the option and click on "Continue". Your user account has been set up, and you will be able to see an overview of all the software you have purchased and to redeem your voucher number.

To change your user account information:

Please log in by entering your saved e-mail address and the password you chose. A new menu item, "My Account", is displayed on the left menu bar. Simply click on "Update Account Details" and modify the corresponding information. Click on "Continue". Your changes have been stored.

Problems when logging in?

Please make sure that you have entered the correct e-mail address and password first. If you have forgotten your password, simply select the "Email me my password" option, enter your e-mail address, and click on "Continue". We will automatically send the password you chose to the e-mail you entered.

Voucher Numbers

What is a voucher number?

The back of your iPAQ Choice brochure has a voucher number that you can use to receive a credit of 4 points on your iPAQ Choice user account. You can then redeem these points as you wish in order to get one or more software titles of your choice from our selection. Please make sure that you use all the free points that you have received within three (3) months of redeeming your voucher number. Otherwise, the points will expire, and cannot be reissued.

I bought more than one iPAQ!

If you purchased more than one iPAQ, you can redeem every single voucher number with your user account. You will receive a credit of 4 free points for each voucher number. The more voucher numbers you have, the more total points will be credited to your user account. In other words, you don't have to set up a new user account for each voucher number.

My voucher number doesn't work!

Please make sure that you have entered all the corresponding numbers and letters correctly. Voucher numbers have 10 digits, and look like the following example:

pointPAQs - If you want more software, you need more points

You can buy pointPAQs to purchase software found at iPAQ Choice. To do this, log into your user account and click on "Buy More Points" on the left menu bar. The page that is displayed allows you to choose between 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, and 20-point pointPAQs, available for as little as €17.95.

The more points you purchase with us, the lower the price for the individual software titles that you buy from us will be. It is worth it to take the time and compare, and paying with points at iPAQ Choice will give you more value for your money than paying in Euros or dollars!

pointPAQs are credited to your account automatically as soon as your payment is authorized. You can redeem these points either immediately or at a later point in time.

How many software titles are available on iPAQ Choice?

We selected 1000 of the best software titles out there and have made them available on iPAQ Choice. Our claim is the fact that we provide you with the best software titles from the best software publishers worldwide through iPAQ Choice. To do this, we have implemented high standards of quality in order to keep you from running into any disappointments.

How can I find the right software title?

There are two main categories on the left menu bar. Select "Pocket PC Software" if you have an iPAQ PDA, or "514 SmartPhone Software" if you have an iPAQ 514 SmartPhone.

Due to the large selection of software available, there are 11 subcategories under both main categories, as well as additional selection options, including: a search option at the end of the left menu bar, the option of directly accessing the best-selling software titles with the "Top 10 Software" category, the option of directly accessing the newest software titles with the "New software" category, etc. This way, we provide all the help you need to find the right title quickly and systematically.

In addition, we recommend you to simply surf through our range of products at least once. This way, you'll be able to find out how many practical and useful applications there are and find neat games that you can use to pass the time while flying on an airplane or riding on a cab, train, or subway.

What do the points next to a software title mean?

Each title is grouped under a software category and provided with a point-based value ranging from 1 to 20. You can purchase the software title for this number of points. You can buy a corresponding pointPAQ in order to have enough credits to download the software you want.

What does "single-user license" mean?

A single-user license means that you only have the right to store the corresponding software on the hard drive of a single compatible PC owned by you, and to install and use this software on a single iPAQ or other PDA. When you download software, you will be required to agree to the terms and conditions as a single user. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, you will not be able to download any of the offered software.

For this purpose, we incorporate new software titles every month and constantly update our existing selection in order to add new software versions and to remove versions once they are not up to date anymore. Do I have to redeem all my points with one single download?

No - you can also redeem your points little by little.

Can I change my mind once I have selected my software?

As soon as you have purchased your software, the specified number of points is deducted. After this, and due to legal reasons, your selection cannot be canceled anymore.

Software Downloads

What happened to the iPAQ Download Agent?

The iPAQ Download Agent was a tool provided by the previous operator in charge of iPAQ Choice. Since January 2008, we offer the possibility of downloading purchased software again or of getting the corresponding registration codes at any time - this functionality is directly available through your user account. This makes it possible for you not to depend on the PC on which the iPAQ Download Agent was installed, and allows you to get the required information from any PC in the world that has an Internet connection and a browser.

How can I download software?

Please log into your user account first. If you don't have a user account, please create a new user account. After doing so, you can purchase so-called pointPAQs from us. You can pay for the software you want with these pointPAQs and then download it.

How long does it take to download software?

That depends on the size of the software and the speed of your modem and Internet connection. If your Internet connection is interrupted during downloading, you can download the software once again at any time.

How do I install the software on my iPAQ from PC?

If you have downloaded the software to your PC, you must first have Microsoft ActiveSync or another synchronization application installed in order to be able to install the software on your iPAQ. Once the synchronization application is installed, connect your iPAQ to your PC with a data cable or a docking station and start the setup routine on the PC. The installation is then carried out automatically from the PC to the iPAQ.

How do I install the software on my iPAQ over the air?

You should go to the http://www.ipaqchoice.com directly from your iPAQ, login using existing account or create new account, redeem your voucher and select software you want.

You should download CAB version of selected software using "Download CAB" link and launch file directly on your device.

How do I uninstall the software from my iPAQ?

In order to uninstall the software from your iPAQ, click on Start - Settings - System and choose Remove Programs on your iPAQ. Choose the program that you wish to remove and click on Remove.

Can I reinstall the software on my iPAQ after I have uninstalled it?

Yes, you can reinstall the software. To do this, simply connect your iPAQ to the PC and open your synchronization application. If you're using Microsoft ActiveSync, simply click on Extras- Software after opening the software in order to reinstall the desired software.

How can I download the software again?

If you need the software again, please log into iPAQ Choice. The overview page that is displayed shows the software that you have purchased so that you can download it again, and also shows the required registration code if applicable.

My points were deducted even though I haven't installed the software. Why?

Your points are deducted if you select the "Confirm your software selection" option. Once you select this option, your selection cannot be changed anymore.

Technical Questions

How do I know whether I have a SmartPhone or a Pocket PC?

It is easy to distinguish between SmartPhones and Pocket PC according to the way they work. If you want to set up your new device or download add-on software, you need to know which version of Windows Mobile is installed on your device.

Pocket PC have a touch screen and the corresponding stylus. Additionally, the Windows logo is displayed on the top left of the start screen with Pocket PC.

SmartPhones do not have a touch screen or a stylus. The Windows logo is displayed on the bottom left of the start screen with these telephones. SmartPhones are equipped either with a full keyboard or with a 12-key keyboard.

Do your products work with MAC OS X or Linux?

If you don't use Microsoft Windows on your PC or laptop, you will need a CAB file in order to install purchased software directly on your iPAQ. To do this, simply copy the CAB file to a memory card and start it by double-clicking inside the iPAQ file explorer.

My software isn't working on my iPAQ!

If your software is not running on your iPAQ for some reason, or if you are receiving error messages, please contact our Support.

What is a "product key code?"

Also known as a "registration key", "unlock key", or "installation key".

You will receive this key or code, which consists of numbers and/or digits, directly together with your purchase. You can check the code again at any time by checking the "My Account" menu item, which will display the codes next to the corresponding software.

This product key code unlocks software so that you can access it. You will not be able to use software titles without a product key code. Many of the software titles we offer require a product key code to be entered once before use.

If you run into problems, please make sure that you entered the product key code correctly before contacting Support. A common mistake, for example, is to accidentally enter the letter "O" instead of the number "0" (zero). If the problem persists, we will of course be glad to provide you with assistance.

Please note: Not every title requires a product key code. Most product key codes are case-sensitive, i.e. upper-case and lower-case letters must be entered exactly as given!

How can I receive technical support or further information regarding the software titles that I downloaded?

Why does the installed software say that I have a test version after I start it?

All titles available through us are full software versions. Some of them, however, require a product key code to be entered in order to unlock the full version. You can find the product key code for every title that requires registration under the "My Account" menu item, in the overview page. You can enter this code as soon as the software is installed on your iPAQ.

Accessories

How do I know that the accessories I selected are compatible with my iPAQ model?

This is very easy. After selecting the "Accessories" menu item on the left menu bar, you will be able to select your iPAQ model.

All accessories shown after you have selected your model are compatible with your iPAQ.

What are your delivery times?

Delivery times depend on the country of the recipient. However, all products offered are generally available in sufficient quantities and directly from stock in Germany, and are delivered to Deutsche Post/DHL for delivery within 24 hours of your order.

The delivery time for the country of the recipient can be approximately 10 days. Please note that international shipments always take longer than national parcel shipments.

What happens if I'm not home when my shipment arrives?

Shipping companies follow certain standard procedures if this happens. In any case, you should leave a notice in your mailbox or on your door. Shipments are sometimes delivered to neighbors so that you don't have to pick up your shipment or be present the next time that the company tries to deliver it.

If you receive a notification, please make sure to pick up your shipment when indicated or to contact the shipping company. Otherwise, your shipment will be sent back and we will have to bill you for the resulting costs.

What happens if my shipment doesn't arrive?

If you still haven't received your shipment two weeks after your order, please ask your neighbors or neighboring stores to see if they have received a shipment that was addressed to you.

If they haven't, please contact Support and give us your order number. All shipments are insured by us and can be tracked. This means that you will not bear any risks or additional costs in the event that the shipment was lost.

Where can I receive my order?

If you want your shipment to be delivered to a separate delivery address (e.g., your office or company), simply specify the address when ordering.

I want to return items from my order!

Consumers can cancel their order within two weeks of receiving their items, without having to indicate a reason for the cancellation, by mail, fax, or by returning the items. This two-week period begins with the receipt of this written notification and of the items at the earliest. A consumer is any client that orders the items for a purpose that cannot be attributed to a commercial or self-employed activity of said client. The timely sending of the cancellation, or a timely return of the items, is sufficient to comply with the cancellation deadline. The cancellation must be addressed to Handster GmbH & Co. KG, Marktstraße 9, D-39624 Kalbe-Milde, Germany, Fax +49 (0) 39080 - 72 22 49.

In the event of an effective cancellation, the payments received by both parties must be refunded (and any applicable benefits obtained (e.g., interests) surrendered). If the client cannot return the received goods or services in their entirety or partially, or can only return them in a deteriorated condition, he/she shall compensate Handster for lost value if applicable. If the items are relinquished, this condition shall not apply if the deterioration of the items is due exclusively to the inspection of said items - as would be possible for the client in a retail shop, for instance. In addition, the client can avoid the obligation of providing compensation for lost value by not using items as if they were his/her property and refraining from any activities that affect their value negatively. Items that can be shipped through parcel post shipments must be sent back. Items that cannot be shipped through parcel post shipments are picked up from the client's location. The client must bear the costs for the return shipment if the delivered goods correspond to those ordered and if the price of the item to be returned does not exceed an amount of EUR 40, or if, in the event that the items have a higher price, the client has not yet paid for said items or paid a contractually-agreed partial payment at the time of cancellation. Otherwise, the return shipment is free of charge for the client. The client must comply with his/her obligations regarding payment reimbursements within 30 days after sending his/her notice of cancellation.

Special Note

The right to cancel expires early if Handster has begun the performance of the service, with the express approval of the client, before the end of the cancellation period, or if the client has arranged for said performance himself/herself. This is particularly the case:

  • In the case of software products received by the client through downloading or through e-mail.
  • In the case of sealed software products, including CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, videos, and other audio or video recordings, if the delivered data carriers have been unsealed by the client.
  • In the case of goods that have been custom-made according to the client's wishes or that have been unequivocally customized according to his/her personal needs.
  • In the case of goods not suitable for return due to their properties.

Value-Added Tax

iPAQ Choice is operated on behalf of HP by Handster GmbH & Co. KG, based in 39624 Kalbe/Milde, Germany. Because of this reason, all prices include the legally required German value-added tax, which is currently 19%. If you are placing an order outside of the EC and the delivery address is also outside of the EC (only for accessories), we will (automatically) not charge any value-added tax. In this case, the country of the recipient will levy duties and taxes, on which we have no influence whatsoever, on the import.

Corporate clients within the EC can enter their VAT registration number while placing an order in order to be exempt from VAT in their orders as well.

Customs Information

Protecting your private information is extremely important to us, and we know that you are concerned about how the information pertaining to your order is used.

Please note that cross-border shipments are subject to being opened and inspected by customs authorities.

Moreover, we must provide our international transportation companies with certain information regarding orders, deliveries, and products. This information must be disclosed by our transportation companies to local customs authorities for purposes of customs clearance.

Please also note that we are forced to specify the value of the goods directly on the package.
